Celebrating Indigenous Innovation: Nimble Machines Wins “Excellence in Indigenization” Award 2026
We are incredibly proud to announce that Nimble Machines has been awarded the prestigious Excellence in Indigenization: Make in India Award at the Gear Technology India Awards 2026.
This recognition is a monumental milestone for our team and a testament to our commitment to India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the nation’s pursuit of self-reliant manufacturing. The award specifically recognizes the groundbreaking development of our flagship product: the Tarang 325 Spiral Bevel Gear Generator.
Here is a look at the story behind the Tarang 325 and why it captured the jury’s attention as a triumph of Indian engineering.
Pioneering India’s First 5-Axis CNC Spiral Bevel Gear Generator
For decades, Indian manufacturers have had to rely heavily on expensive imported machinery for complex gear generation. We decided it was time to change the status quo.
We take immense pride in stating that the Tarang 325 is India’s very first 5-Axis CNC Spiral Bevel Gear Generator. It is the result of 100% in-house Research & Development by our dedicated engineering team—developed entirely without any foreign MoUs for technology transfer.
This enables Indian manufacturers to access high-precision spiral bevel gear production with reduced dependency on imports, shorter lead times, and significantly lower lifecycle costs.
True “Make in India” Manufacturing: 90% Indigenous Content
What does true indigenization look like in the machine tool industry? For the Tarang 325, it means that approximately 90% of the machine is indigenous.
Local Manufacturing: The core structural components (castings), precision machining of the bed and column, and critical sub-assemblies (like the work head and rotary tables) are all manufactured entirely at our state-of-the-art Bangalore facility.
Strategic Imports: Our imported content is strictly limited to standard electronic hardware, such as CNC controllers, where domestic alternatives are not yet available at scale.
Advanced Gear Manufacturing Technology Developed In-House
Innovation requires stepping away from traditional methods. Instead of relying on complex gear trains, our team developed a direct-drive transmission system for the Tarang 325’s spindle and work head—completely without foreign collaboration. This leap in technology significantly reduces backlash and minimizes machine maintenance.
Furthermore, this machine is built on a foundation of proven expertise. Our parent company, UCAM, brings a 40 years legacy of developing high-precision CNC Rotary Tables entirely in-house. This deep domain knowledge forms the technological backbone of the Tarang 325’s exceptional positioning accuracy.
(Note: This indigenous design excellence was also validated when the Tarang 325 took home the prestigious ‘CII Design Excellence’ Award, proving that our home-grown technology meets and exceeds rigorous global quality standards.)
The Infrastructure Behind Our Indigenous CNC Machines
Building world-class, indigenous machine tools requires world-class infrastructure. We have invested heavily in our DSIR-recognized in-house R&D center, which serves as the core of our innovation ecosystem. Our technological ecosystem includes:
Advanced Design & Simulation: We utilize high-end CAD/CAM and FEA simulation software for rigorous structural rigidity analysis.
Precision Manufacturing: Our climate-controlled, dust-free manufacturing facility is equipped with 5-axis machining centers to produce critical parts in-house, ensuring zero compromise on quality and reducing reliance on external vendors.
Global Standard Validation: We utilize Laser Interferometers, CMMs, and specialized gear testing equipment to ensure every machine perfectly matches global DIN/AGMA standards.
Looking Ahead
Winning the Excellence in Indigenization award is not just a victory for Nimble Machines; it is a victory for the Indian machine tool industry. It proves that with the right vision, infrastructure, and engineering talent, India can design and build world-class, high-tech CNC machinery.
We extend our sincere thanks to our R&D team, manufacturing team, and our customers who continue to trust in indigenous technology.
FAQs
